March 6 and 7, 2008
This year, the Guadalajara International Film Festival will host the Iberoamerican Films Crossing Borders, an initiative by Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE) from Spain together with the Instituto Buñuel.

This event, which for the first time will take place outside Europe- was conceived to encourage the circulation of Ibero-American films outside their countries of origin, particularly in Europe, where Latin movies still face difficulties in crossing borders.

The objective of the seminar is to provide Ibero-American professionals of the audiovisual industry with key industry practices, in order to enable them improving the quality and potential of their audiovisual projects in order to promote and sell their films in a competitive international film market place.

For this reason IBCB aims to gather industry professionals, get them to know each other, and encourage collaborations and networking to enable participants to meet key experts and players of the audiovisual industry in a relaxed atmosphere (working groups)

The structure of the seminar is based on a 2-day workshop (lectures, working groups and one-to-one meetings) . 25 Ibero-American film industry professionals will participate (directors, screenwriters and producers).

Applicants will have to demonstrate relevant knowledge and at leas 3 years of working experience in the film industry. They will have to submit a project executive summary (feature film, creative documentary for theatrical release or TV, animation for theatrical release). The project should be in an early stage of development (treatment or first draft of the script) and demonstrate high quality, viability, strong international dimension and circulation potential.

aMong the confirmed lectures are: Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, filmmaker, screenwriter and chairman of the Buñuel Institute; Gerardo Herrero, Tornasol Films chairman (Spain); Antonio Saura, producer-Zebra Producciones, Spain; Claudia Landsberger, Executive Director – Holland Films and European Film Promotion Chairman; Renate Roginas, director of UE’s PHARE Programme; John Durie, co-founder of Strategic Film Marketing (UK) and Alexander Joos, Legal consultant.
