El término Redacted se refiere a un texto que ha sido censurado o con partes tachadas, información que se conoce, pero que se ha reprimido de forma consciente. Enfocado en un escuadrón de soldados norteamericanos en Samarra, el film emplea un número de estilos conflictivos y puntos de vista alternativos, traslapando las experiencia de los soldados encargados de un punto de cruce, con aquellas de los medios que cubren los eventos y con los iraquíes locales que se encuentran atrapados en medio de una guerra civil. Cada grupo se ve afectado por el conflicto de distintas maneras, y el film interpreta sus experiencias a través de diferentes filtros.

Redacted refers to text that has been blacked out or censored – information that is known but consciously repressed. Focusing on a squad of American soldiers in Samarra, the film employs a number of conflicting styles and alternative points of view, juxtaposing the experiences of the soldiers running a checkpoint with those of the media sent to cover events, and the local Iraqis who find themselves caught in the middle of a civil war. Each group is affected by the conflict in different ways, and the film interprets their experiences through different filters.

BRIAN DE PALMA (Newark, New Jersey, 1940). De 1962 a 1964 estudió Arte dramático en el Sarah Lawrence College de Nueva York y dirigió varios cortometrajes. Hacia finales de los setenta ayudó como favor a George Lucas en el casting de Star Wars. También ayudó a redactar el texto que aparece en la primera escena de esta película. Después de siete producciones independientes, salta a la fama con la película Sisters (1973) y usa por primera vez el estilo vouyerista que después será, junto con las pantallas divididas, una característica en su estilo.

Brian De Palma is the son of a surgeon. He studied physics but at the same time felt his dedication for the movies and made some short films. After seven independent productions he had his first success with Sisters (1973) and his voyeuristic style. Restlessly he worked on big projects with the script writers Paul Schrader, John Farris and Oliver Stone. He also filmed a novel of Stephen King: Carrie (1976). Another important film was The Untouchables (1987).
