La abogada Julia Gudari investiga el secuestro en Uruguay de Berríos, un químico chileno reclamado por la justicia internacional por su vinculación con crímenes perpetrados por el régimen de Pinochet. Todo indica que los militares uruguayos retienen a Berríos para impedir que declare como testigo. Julia, que fue secuestrada y torturada durante la dictadura uruguaya, teme que su padre, el general retirado Gudari, esté involucrado en el caso Berríos, y su hermano, que también es militar, le niega información. En medio de la presión y las amenazas, Julia entiende que, si quiere acceder a la verdad, tendrá que revisar su pasado para sanar sus heridas y superar sus miedos.

Julia Gudari is investigating the kidnap in Uruguay of Berrios, a Chilean chemist wanted by the international authorities in connection with crimes committed by the Pinochet regime. Everything seems to indicate that the Uruguayan army is holding the man to prevent him from giving evidence as a witness. Julia, who was kidnapped and tortured during the Uruguayan dictatorship, is afraid that her father, General Gudari, is involved in the case, and her brother, also serving in the army, refuses to tell her anything. Amid the pressure and threats, Julia realises that if she wants to know the truth, she’ll have to dig into her past to heal old wounds and overcome her fears.

ESTEBAN SCHROEDER (Montevideo, 1956).
En 1981 creó el Centro de Medios Audiovisuales y participó en más de treinta producciones alternando los cometidos de fotógrafo, guionista, director y productor. En 1988 realizó el documental Chile: obra incompleta y en 1991 dirigió para Channel 4 el documental La esperanza incierta. En el año 2000 presentó su telefilm El viñedo y desde entonces reside en Chile. A partir de finales de 2004 es director de la Escuela de Cine de la Universidad ARCIS.

In 1981 he created the Centro de Medios Audiovisuales and participated in over 30 productions, alternating as a photographer, screenwriter, director and producer. In 1988 he made the documentary Chile: obra incompleta, and in 1991 directed the documentary La esperanza incierta for Channel 4. In 2000, he presented his telefilm El viñedo. He has been living in Chile since 2002 and, since late 2004, is director of the ARCIS University Film School.
