The war sent hundreds of thousands of ordinary Sierra Leoneans fleeing to refugee camps in the neighboring West African nation of the Republic of Guinea. Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars are a band of six Sierra Leonean musicians who came together to form a band while living in a refugee camp in Guinea. Despite the unimaginable horrors of civil war, they were saved and brought hope and happiness to their fellow refugees through their music. Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars chronicles the band over three years, from Guinean refugee camps back to war-ravaged Sierra Leone, where they realize the dream of recording their first studio album.

ZACH NILES. Tiene antecedentes en la industria musical y de 1998 al 2004 formó parte de la producción y promoción de algunas de las más grandes y famosas giras del rock (The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Simon and Garfunkel). En 2001 produjo la serie de ocho capítulos “Live at the Fillmore,” documentando un día en la vida de una banda de rock. Ha vivido y trabajado en Sudafrica y Camerún, y tiene un interés profesional y personal en la vida y cultura de África.
He comes from a music-industry background and from 1998-2004 was part of the production and promotion of some of the largest rock and roll tours (The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Simon and Garfunkel). In 2001 he was the associate producer for the eight-part television series “Live at the Fillmore,” documenting a “day-in-the-life of a rock band”. He has lived and worked in South Africa and Cameroon, and has had a long-standing personal and professional interest in the music and cultures of Africa.
BANKER WHITE. Es un artista multidisciplinario en el área de San Francisco. Ha sido escritor y director de muchos cortos y de 1994-96 ayudó al establecimiento del Kokrobitey Institute en Ghana, un centro educativo para investigar la riqueza cultural de África. White es originario de Boston y graduado del California College of Arts and Crafts.
He is a multi-disciplinary artist in the San Francisco Bay Area. From 1994-96 he helped start the Kokrobitey Institute in Ghana, a learning center established to allow for the discovery of the cultural and intellectual richness of Africa. White, who received his master of fine arts degree from the California College of Arts and Crafts, is originally from Boston.
