Sofía es una joven española que pierde a su madre a causa de una enfermedad. Llega a sus manos una enigmática carta que la madre envió en vida a Chile. Esta ha sido devuelta por el correo al no hallarse el destinatario original. El contenido de la misiva despierta profundos interrogantes en Sofía, quien se embarca entonces en un aventurado viaje al sur del mundo. El destino: un ignoto y remoto pueblo llamado “Desierto Sur”.

Sofia is a young Spanish girl who loses her mother to an illness. An enigmatic letter falls into her hands, one that her mother sent to Chile when she was alive. The letter is returned by the post office when the recipient could not be found. The content of the letter raises stirring questions in Sofia, who then embarks on an adventure filled journey south of the world. The destination: An unknown and remote town called “Desierto Sur”.

SHAWN GARRY (Santiago, Chile, 1978)
Realizó sus estudios superiores en el College of Santa Fe (USA), donde se tituló con el grado de Bachelor of arts in Moving Image en el año 2001. Durante el año 2002 en Barcelona, España dirigió el cortometraje Gatos placentarios. Este cortometraje estuvo presente en festivales alrededor del mundo. En el 2004 estableció la productora Creative Content en Santiago, Chile y comenzó a desarrollar varios proyectos incluyendo la película Desierto Sur, su primer largometraje. Recientemente comenzó un circuito de festivales en 56th International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg donde recibió el premio del público.

He obtained a BA in Moving Image Arts from the College of Santa Fe (New Mexico) in 2001. During the year 2002, in Barcelona-Spain, he directed the short film Gatos Placentarios which played in various festivals worldwide and was released theatrically in Chile. In 2004, he established the production company Creative Content in Chile, and started to develop the feature film project Desierto Sur, his first film. It recently started a festival circuit in 56th International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg where it received the “Audience Award”.
