Juan es un adolescente de dieciséis años que merodea una ciudad intentando arreglar su auto que acaba de chocar. En su intento por arreglarlo se encontrará con un universo desconcertante, formado por personajes, quienes sin saberlo, le enseñaran a enfrentarse al doloroso y maravilloso acto de vivir. Lake Tahoe es un viaje con destino final en la parte mas profunda del corazón.

Sixteen-year-old Juan has had enough of his family – all the neverending problems and the rows – and so he leaps into the family car and takes off. Anything to get away! His escape ends up on the edge of town where he drives the red racer into a telegraph pole. He rings home and his little brother Joaquín answers. Nothing has changed. His mother is still locked in the bathroom … Juan hangs up. He’d better find someone to repair the car. He comes across Don Heber, a latent paranoid mechanic who lives with his dog, Sica. The mechanic’s clever boxer accompanies Juan on his search for a missing car part; once Juan has found it, Don can begin repairing the car. Before long, Juan and Sica find a spares dealer, «Refaccionaria Oriente» – just the right place to find rare parts for overworked cars. Behind the counter is a young girl – a punk. Lucía may know all there is to know about punk music but she knows absolutely nothing about panels, coolers and carburettors. And so they have to wait for someone who does know about these things. David, a teenager and kung fu fan, turns out to be an expert in all things mechanical. In one single day the absurd and completely irreconcilable worlds of these people help Juan to understand that there are things that are as inevitable and inexplicable as death. FERNANDO EIMBCKE (Ciudad de México, 1970).
Estudió en la Escuela Superior de Fotografía y posteriormente dirección en el Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC), en donde egreso en 1996. Ha realizado varios cortos, entre ellos No todo es permanente (1996), La suerte de la fea a la bonita no le importa (2002), y No sea malito (2002). Temporada de patos, su primer largometraje, fue ovacionada en México y en el extranjero. Durante 2005 ganó, entre otros, once premios Ariel, de la Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas, siete galardones Mayahuel en el Festival de Guadalajara y obtuvo el reconocimiento a la Mejor Película el Festival de Mar de Plata.

Born in Mexico City in 1970, he studied drama and film at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico from 1992-96. He made numerous short films and music videos. One of his films participated in the Berlinale’s short film programme in 2002; he was a guest of the 2003 Berlinale Talent Campus, for which he made the short THE LOOK OF LOVE. His first feature Duck Season was awarded as Best Mexican Film in Guadalajara by Official Jury and Fiprescy.
