Analídia y Jonathan son amigos desde la infancia a pesar de ser hijos de los líderes bandas de narcotraficantes rivales en una favela de Rio de Janeiro. Inspirada Romeo y Julieta, Maré es una revisión con música de la tragedia clásica, con danza contemporánea.

Living in a slum divided between two rival gangs of drug traffickers, Analídia is the daughter of one of the gangs´ leaders and Jonatha is a childhood friend of the other. Both study in a dance group inspired by Romeo and Juliet, the film is a review of our strong sense of music, our contemporary dance as well as the strange mix we find in slum, where violence lives along side artistic possibility brought by social projects.

LÚCIA MURAT (Rio de Janeiro, 1948)
Después de trabajar en las principales estaciones de TV y periodicos de Brasil empezó a principios de los ochenta con producciones independientes en el sector audiovisual. Sus películas han recibido numerosos premios en Festivales como Berlin, Toronto and Sundance.

After working in the main TV stations and newspapers of Brazil, as Jornal do Brasil and O Globo, she started, in the early 80’s, with independent productions in audiovisual sector. Her feature films received numerous prizes and were present in the most important international festivals such as Berlin, Toronto and Sundance.
