August Evening sigue a un granjero indocumentado llamado Jaime y su joven y viuda nuera, Lupe, mientras su vida se va complicando. Lupe es más una hija para Jaime que su propio hijo y tratan de permanecer juntos… pero el cambio es inevitable. El corazón de la historia es el conflicto entre generaciones. Padres que envejecen e hijos que crecen con la dificultad de expresar mutuamente el amor y la decepción que se tienen unos a otros. Un padre reconoce la fuerza inevitable del tiempo y debe decir adiós a su hija para que ella pueda empezar su propia vida.

August Evening follows an aging undocumented farm worker named Jaime and his young, widowed daughter-in-law, Lupe, as their lives are thrown into upheaval. Lupe is more of a daughter to Jaime than his own children, and the two try to stick together… but change is inevitable. At the heart of the story is the conflict between generations. Aging parents and grown children have difficulty expressing both their love and mutual disappointment in each other. A father recognizes the unstoppable force of time and must say goodbye to his daughter so she can start her own life.

CHRIS ESKA
Creció en Ottine, Texas. Estudió sociología y arte en Rice University antes de tomar un postgrado en dirección fílmica en UCLA. Sus cortometrajes se han proyectado en PBS, en la Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker’s Competition, en el teatro DGA en Los Angeles, en el Filmmaker’s Showcase de Texas, y en numerosos festivales de cine. Después de ausentarse un año de UCLA para viajar a través de la India y Asia, Chris regresó a Japón para producir su película que sirvió como tesis de maestría: Doki-Doki.

He was raised in Ottine, Texas, and studied sociology and art at Rice University before attending UCLA’s MFA film directing program. His short films have screened on PBS, at the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker’s Competition, the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, the Texas Filmmaker’s Showcase, and at numerous film festivals. After taking a one-year leave of absence from UCLA to backpack across India and Asia, Chris returned to Japan to produce Doki-Doki, his master’s thesis film.
