Un día perfecto en Beirut en la vida de Malek, un joven que sufre de narcolepsia y que vive sobreprotegido por su madre que no consigue aceptar la desaparición de su marido quince años atrás, en la guerra civil libanesa. En ella murieron más de 100, 000 civiles y desaparecieron otros 17,000, entre estos últimos el marido de Claudia y padre de Malek. Hoy es el día en que oficialmente será declarado muerto, y ellos pasarán a ser viuda y huérfano. Pero Malek tiene está más interesado en una pistola que ha encontrado entre las pertenencias de su padre y en perseguir por la ciudad a la joven de la que está enamorado.
A perfect 24 hours in modern-day Beirut, a day in which Claudia is finally ready to come to terms with her husband’s disappearance 15 years earlier while her son, the narcoleptic Malek, searches the chaotic streets for his own lost love, Zeina. Moving between the old and the new and existing in an emotional void, Claudia and Malek are dislocated and numbed by the trauma of the Lebanese Civil War in which 17, 000 vanished. As Beirut’s past is interrupted by its future, this is a perfect day to end the harrowing wait, to put old ghosts to rest and to search for a new future while not forgetting the past.

Joana Hadjithomas y Khalil Joreige han trabajado juntos como artistas y como cineastas, han filmado ficción y documentales. Su trabajo se ha exhibido e galerías e instituciones europeas. Son conferencistas y autores de diferentes publicaciones, entre las cuales están: Beyrouth: Fictions urbaines, OK I’m going to show you my work, A state of Latency, Latency, Like oasis in the desert, The battle of the hotels… Ambos son profesores en la Universidad Saint Joseph en Beirut, en donde Joana imparte cursos de guión y Khalil de estética y video experimental.
Both born in Beirut, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige have worked together as artists as well as filmmakers, shooting fiction films and documentaries. Their work has been shown in galleries as well as art institutions. They are also lecturers and authors of different publications among which: Beyrouth: Fictions urbaines, OK I’m going to show you my work, A state of Latency, Latency, Like oasis in the desert, The battle of the hotels… They both teach at St Joseph University in Beirut, Joana gives screenwriting courses, Khalil esthetics and experimental video.
