La Guerra Fría terminó y la Unión Soviética se disolvió. Sólo entonces fue posible mirar al mito del Che Guevara y comenzar a buscar al fantasma que permanece, desaparecido desde hace 30 años. De 1967 (el año de la ejecución del Che) al 1997 (año que su cuerpo fue recuperado) asuntos políticos siguen escondidos sobre Ernesto Che Guevara, haciendo la recuperación de la historia del más famoso revolucionario casi imposible.
Gracias a los relatos de la gente que estuvo en contacto directo con el cuerpo de Guevara, el documental revela las últimas horas de Ernesto Guevara, las razones que lo llevaron a la desaparición, la recuperación de sus restos y la evaporación del cuerpo con las manos amputadas que jugaron un rol en la leyenda del Che. Hoy es la imagen más vendida del siglo XXI. Y aun el mito no conserva toda su fuerza.

The Cold War ended and the Soviet Union was dissolved. Only then was it possible to look beyond the myth of Che Guevara and begin to search for his “ghostly” remains, gone missing for some 30 years. From 1967 (the year of Che’s execution) to 1997 (the year his body was recovered) international political events kept the remains of Ernesto Che Guevara hidden from the world, making the recovery of history’s most famous revolutionary all but impossible.
Thanks to the accounts of those people who came into direct contact with Guevara’s corpse, the documentary reveals the last hours of Ernesto Guevara, the reasons that led to the disappearance and later to the recovery of his remains and the role that the vanished corpse with its amputated hands played in the creation of the legend of “Che”. Today, this image is the twenty-first century’s best-selling icon. Yet his myth has lost nothing of its force.

RAFFAELE BRUNETTI (Italia)
Es director y productor de documentales. Ha producido y dirigido desde 1987. Comenzó trabajando para producciones japonesas y ha estado involucrado en la producción de más de 100 documentales para cadenas internacionales. Sus más recientes trabajos incluyen documentales creativos, sociales e históricos en coproducción con canales americanos y europeos. Su película Mitumba producida con NRD Arte y YLE recibió numerosos premios. Además es director de Italian Doc Screenings.

He is a documentary director and producer. He has been producing and directing documentaries since 1987. He started working with Japanese networks and later he was involved in the production of over 100 documentaries for major international broadcasters. His most recent works have included creative, social and historical documentaries in coproduction with European and US broadcasters. His latest film Mitumba produced with NDR Arte and YLE received several awards. Furthermore he is the director of the Italian Doc Screenings.

STEFANO MISSIO(Italia)
Se graduó de cinefotógrafo en la Sorbonne de París y de la Italian National School of Cinema (CSC). Ha hecho varios documentales entre los cuales están When Italy was not a poor country y Succes à l’italienne producidos por Fandango, ARTE y canal Italy por Tele+. Desde el 200 ha dirigido ildocumentario.it el sitio de internet de documentales en el cine italiano.

He graduated in cinematography at the Sorbonne in Paris and at the Italian National School of Cinema (CSC). He has made various documentaries among which When Italy was not a poor country and Succes à l’italienne produced by Fandango, ARTE and broadcast in Italy by Tele+. Since 2000 he has directed the ildocumentario.it website on documentary cinema in Italy.
