Johan and his family are Mennonites from the north of Mexico. Against the laws of God and men, Johan, husband and father, falls in love with another woman.

CARLOS REYGADAS (México, 1971)
Estudió Derecho Internacional en la Ciudad de México y en Londres, especializándose en conflictos armados. En el año 2000 reunió un equipo de debutantes en largometraje y filmó su opera prima, Japón, por la que recibió una Mención Especial de la Cámara de Oro en el Festival de Cannes, y el Coral a la mejor opera prima del Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, entre otros reconocimientos. En 2005 presentó Batalla en el cielo, su segunda cinta, la cual se estrenó en la Selección Oficial del Festival de Cannes. Luz silenciosa es su tercera película.

Born in Mexico in 1971, Carlos Reygadas studied international law in his home town. He then continued his studies in London and started his professional career at the Mexican Foreign Service to the UN in New York. During the first term 1999, he made three other shorts before starting to write the script for his first feature film Japón. Self-produced and made with mostly non-professionals, the film was shown at the Rotterdam Film Festival then at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight where it received a Special mention for the Camera d’or. In 2005, his second feature film Battle In Heaven was selected in official competition in Cannes. Producer of both his first feature films, Reygadas has also co-produced in 2005 Sangre by the fellow Mexican Amat Escalante (assistant-director on Battle In Heaven).
