Situada en el sureste mexicano, en el puerto de Progreso, Yucatán, a finales de los años veinte, esta película que se mueve entre la realidad u la magia, es la historia de un adolescente y sus amigos, de su amor por su maestra y de su destino alejando de sus sueños. Es también la historia de la maestra que cree en un mundo mejor, sin las barreras de la incomprensión y la intolerancia.

This film is situated in the southwest of México, in the twenties, and it is about a young boy his friends, his love for his teacher, and the destiny that leads him away from his dreams It is also the story of the teacher, who believes in a better world, without the obstacles of incomprehension and intolerance.

CARLOS CARRERA (Ciudad de México, 1962).
A los doce años realizóo sus primeros cortos de animación en Súper 8. Estudió comunicación en la Universidad Iberoamericana y es egresado del Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, donde estudió realización. Trabajó como asistente de dirección en teatro, como ilustrador y dibujante para la prensa y el cine. Debuta en el largometraje con La mujer de Benjamín, ganador del Ariel a la mejor ópera prima. En 1994, gana la Palma de Oro en el Festival de Cannes con el corto animado El héroe.

Since the age of 12 he produced his first animations shorts with Super 8. He has graduate studies in communication from the Universidad Iberoamericana, and attended the Centro of Capacitación Cinematográfica, where he studied direction. Carrera was assistant director in theater, as well as illustrator and drawer for the press and cinema. His feature film debut is La mujer de Benjamín, awarded the Ariel for best first work. In 1994, the animated short El héroe is awarded the Palme d’Or at the Festival of Cannes.
