Un hombre es llevado a la oficina del doctor, pero no para una revisión ordinaria. Una jeringa gigantesca gotea un líquido viscoso amarillento que mágicamente se transforma en dos hombres de aspecto siniestro. Éstas son las escalofriantes imágenes de esta película de animación en donde dos limpiadores de chimeneas limpian todos los recuerdos del cerebro de la víctima. Marionetas temerarias habitan un mundo de objetos extraños. ¿Qué pasa en la mente de este hombre?

A man is taken to the doctor’s office, but it’s not for an ordinary checkup. A huge syringe is thrust into his head. Out of the syringe oozes a sticky yellowish liquid that magically turns into two sinister-looking men. These are the opening images of this chilling animation film, in which two chimney sweeps clear all the memories out of their victim’s brain. Fearsome puppets inhabit a world of strange objects. What goes on in a man’s head?

PATRICK BOUCHARD (Chicoutimi, Quebec, 1974)
Su carrera tiene dos características: multidisciplinaria y consistente. En 1990 Bouchard estudió cine y artes audiovisuales en CEGEP. Tuvo experiencia en escultura, un medio que lo condujo a la animación con marionetas. Mientras estudiaba hizo varios videos independientes y dos cortos animados. Su corto animado Jean Leviériste fue proyectado en la Regard sur la Relève du Cinéma Québécois y transmitido en Télé-Québec. Su talento fue puesto en juego con The Brainwashers. Este extraño y fuerte corto ganó el Jutra Award como el mejor corto animado de 2003.

His career is characterized by two themes: multidisciplinary and consistency. In the 1990s, Bouchard studied cinema and visual arts at CEGEP and university. He gained experience in sculpture, a medium that naturally led him to puppet animation. While continuing his studies, he made several independent videos and two animated films. His 1996 animated short Jean Leviériste was screened at Regard sur la Relève du Cinéma Québécois and broadcast on Télé-Québec. All his talents came into play in making The Brainwashers at the Animation and Youth Studio. This strange and strong film won the Jutra Award for best animated film in 2003.
