Primavera 1994: Kigali capital de Ruanda. Bernard Valcourt esta en Africa filmando un documental sobre el SIDA. Valcourt observa como crece la tensión entre humus y tutsis. En el Hotel des Mille Hollines Valcourt se enamora de Gentille, una bella mesera ruandesa. A oesar de las diferencias el romance avanza y se casan.Al estallar la guerra Valcourt y Gentille son separados, él es deportado. Meses mas tarde Valcourt regresa a buscarla entre los miles de refugiados.

Spring 1994. Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city, deep in the heart of Africa. Bernard Valcourt is.in Africa to shoot a documentary on the devastation wreaked by AIDS, Valcourt watches on as tensions rapidly escalate between Tutsis and Hutus. At the Hôtel Des Mille Collines, Valcourt falls madly in love with Gentille, a beautiful Rwandan waitress. Their romance grows in fits and starts; she is so young and he – he is so white. In spite of their differences, Gentille and Valcourt throw caution to the wind and marry. And then war breaks out. Amidst the ensuing chaos the lovers are brutally separated. Valcourt searches desperately for his wife, but, because of his status as a foreigner, is forced to leave the country. Months later, Rwanda is stained with the blood of close to a million Tutsis but order has been restored. Valcourt returns to Kigali in search of his wife. But with many survivors displaced from their homes and some living in refugee camps across borders, his task is a difficult one.

Robert Favreau, director y guionista de cine y television, es un artista impresionista que ofrece trabajos documentales y de ficción de calidad. Entre su obra destaca la asombrosa Un dimanche à Kigali, estrenada en 2006, Les muses orphelines (2000) y Portion d´éternité (1989), y algunas series televisivas tales como L´ombre de ´épervier I y II (1998 y 2000). Con trabajo ha ganado diversos premios, entre otros el premio Stella Artois por la mejor película Canadiende (Portion d´éternité). Entre sus trabajos documentales sobresalen Pied de biche (2005) y Le soleil a pas d´chance (1975). El ha compartido su conocimiento desde el inicio de su carrera, como conferencista (UQÀm-INIS) y en talleres intensivos para actores.

Director and screenwriter for the small as well as the big screen, is an impressive artist, who offers quality fiction and documentary works. The former include the astounding feature film Un dimanche à Kigali, released in 2006, which follows striking movies such as Les muses orphelines (2000) and Portion d’éternité (1989), as well as television series such as L’ombre de l’épervier I and II (1998 and 2000), which won him several awards, among others the Stella Artois award for best Canadian feature film (Portion d’éternité). Among his documentary works, let us point out Pied de biche (2005) and Le soleil a pas d’chance (1975), which received a rave review and record audience ratings when it aired on the television channel, Radio-Québec. Fond of his work, he has been sharing his knowledge from the beginning of his career, both as a lecturer (UQÀM – INIS) and as an intensive Jeu à la caméra workshop coach for actors.
