Por inhóspitas trochas, bajo una lluvia inclemente, vemos a un hombre moribundo escapar de un perseguidor implacable. El hombre agotado llega a lo que cree ser su salvación, una pequeña casa perdida en la montaña. El viento y el agua lo calan hasta los huesos y apenas logra mantener la conciencia lo suficiente para ver el duro rostro de la mujer que lo recibe.

On a hostile trail, under a merciless rain, we see a dying man escaping from a relentless adversary. Exhausted, the man finds shelter in a house lost in the mountains. He’s soaked and the brutal wind draws his ribs on his shirt. He can barely stay conscious, and walking towards the door he encounters the inexpressive face of the woman of the house. Inspired in the John Howinson’s gothic tale “The Floating Beacon”, “It Rains” it’s the inner trip of a man running away from himself. “It Rains” it’s a fragment in the life and death of four isolated people. “It Rains” it’s the terrible possibility of recognizing ourselves on the screen. “It Rains” it’s the stone cold gaze of Medusa this time unbearable even looked through the protecting mirror.

ALEXIS MÉNDEZ GINER.
Licenciado en Comunicación Social en Venezuela, realizó estudios de postgrado en cine (M.F.A) en Syracuse University (Estados Unidos). Su carrera cinematográfica se ha dividido entre la dirección de comerciales de televisión y realización de piezas personales. Como director comercial ha obtenido numerosos reconocimientos tanto en su país. Ha dirigido cuatro cortometrajes: Transparency (1999), Ensayo (2000), Costurera (2001) y Llueve (2007). Y dos piezas de video-arte: Seawash (2001) y Canción Cervical (2005). Obtuvo el Premio Municipal de Cortometrajes de Caracas en las categorías de Mejor Película, Mejor Dirección y Mejor Montaje por el corto Ensayo. Es artista fundador del Centro Multimedia para las Artes del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas.

B. A. in Mass Communications in Venezuela, made an M. F. A. in Film at Syracuse University in the United States. His film career has been divided between the direction of TV commercials and making film and video projects. He has directed four short films: Transparency (1999), Essay (2000), Seamstress (2001) and It Rains (2007), and two video-art pieces, Seawash (2001) and Canción Cervical (2005). He was awarded with the Premio Municipal de Cortometrajes de Caracas (Caracas City Hall Short Films Award) in the Best Film, Best Directing and Best Editing for the shortfilm Essay. He is a founder artist of the Multimedia Center for the Arts in the Contemporary Museum of Caracas.
