Bertha Navarro, Silver Mayahuel 2008

berthanavarro.jpgThe Guadalajara International Film Festival, in its XXIII edition (March 7-14), will pay tribute to Bertha Navarro. This Mexican producer will receive the Mayahuel de Plata (Silver Mayahuel Award) as recognition to her steadfast support to the international consolidation of the Ibero-American film market.

Bertha Navarro is one of the most outstanding producers in the history of the Mexican film industry due to her participation in films like Pan’s Labyrinth, Cabeza de Vaca, Cronos, and Cobrador, among others. In 1973, she produced her first feature film, Reed, Mexico insurgente, directed by Paul Leduc.

Along with this tribute to Bertha Navarro, that’s taking place on March 10th, the Festival will present the book Bertha Navarro: cineasta sin fronteras. The book includes a series of interviews with the filmmaker by the jounalist Ana Cruz.
