Tin Tan in Guadalajara
Actor Germán Valdés Tin Tan, famous with his Zoot Suit and a language which intermixed English and Spanish, made history with his ironic and picturesque dialogues. Tin Tan was more than an actor, he sang and danced and lent his voice to Spanish version of animated films such as Balou in The Jungle Book and O’malley the cat in the Aristocats.
This year the Guadalajara International Film Festival has programmed a special Homage to pay tribute to Tin Tan. As part of this homage, a special photo exhibit opened yesterday at the Paseo Lafayette.
The photo exhibit has 33 large-scale prints, in which we can observe different phases of Tin tan’s life, from his childhood, his days of glory at the apogee of his film career, etc. The photographs belong to his family, also present at the exhibit. His widower RosalÃÂa Julián, together with his children and grand children were invited by the Festival and accompanied by the Festival director, Jorge Sánchez, who was present at the event to express pay his honor to the great Tin Tan.
Yesterday also took place the outodoors screening of one of his most popular films: EL REY DEL BARRIO.
On Wednesday 12th, Emilio Riera’s book Las pelÃÂculas de Tin Tan will be presented by José MarÃÂa Pérez Gay and the Spanish film critic and former director of San Sebastian’s Film Fest, Diego Galán.
