The New Latin American Cinema in the words of its founder: Fernando Birri’s book “Soñar con los ojos abiertos” (Dreaming with your eyes wide open) is presented at the Festival.

The book is a compilation of the thirty seminaries he dictated at Stanford University from the 2001 to the 2003, in which he tells of the creation and production of each one of his films and analyses films by other film directors and craft companions such as Glauber Rocha, Nelson Pereira Dos Santos, Miguel Littín, and Fernando Solanas.

In the panel were Jorge Ruffinelli from Stanford University, Manuel Perez Estremera, former director of Spanish Television which co-produced some of Birri’s films and David Blaustein, argentine filmmaker and one of Birri’s disciples.
