Meeting with Creators: Albertina Carri

AlbertinaCarriOn Thursday morning a new edition of Meeting the Creators developed during the activities of the Festival at the Hotel Fiesta Americana.

For this event the film Los Rubios (2003) by the Argentinean director Albertina Carri was screened. At the end of the film the director conversed with the audience –mostly cinema and communication students– that were present for the event.

The director and producer described the cinematographic style she used to tell the film and how she used an assortment of resources (animation, voice in off, interviews, and a mixture of documentary and fiction). The film develops the story of how Albertina Carri can not remember her parents who died in 1977 when she was 4 years old. “All my films are personal and Los Rubios includes an ingredient of autobiography,†said the filmmaker.

Albertina Carri also presented her most recent production La rabia. This film was part of the selection for best Ibero-American feature fiction film. To end with Meeting the Creators two shorts were screened El artista del hambre, by the Mexican Alejandro Pineda, and Outono, by the Brazilian Pablo Lobato, the last is participating for best Ibero-American short.

Both directors where present and discussed their projects. Alejandro Pineda prompted young students to search and work in their projects and never leave them behind. An ovation emerged when he mentioned how all cinematographic productions have difficulties, but there are always solutions.

Tomorrow will be the last session of Meeting with Creators with the contribution of the Argentinean composer Osvaldo Montes.
