The XXIII edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival will take place from March 7th to 14th.

As in past editions, we continue with an Official Section for Ibero-American and Mexican Films along with various parallel programs. The news this year, is that for the first time Ibero-American and Mexican films with compete in separate sections (this stands for Features, Documentaries and Short Competitions)

Argentina is our guest country this year. With the collaboration of Argentina’s Instituto Nacional de Cinematografía y Artes Audiovisuales we have a organized a wide range of special presentations, homages, retrospectives, photo exhibits and professional meetings.

The Festival also recognizes the importance of opening new doors for national and Ibero-American industry representatives. This is why we will continue with the foremost business events like: Producers Network (in conjunction with Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film), Guadalajara Construye for films-in-progress (in collaborations with San Sebastian and Toulouse Film Festivals), as well as the Coproduction Meetings.

Along with these activities and events, in 2008 we will host the World Cinema Fund Spotlight -possible thanks to the generous support of the Berlinale’s World Cinema Fund-. Also in the program is the first edition of Iberoamerican Film Crossing Borders -in conjunction with Fundación Autor and the Buñuel Institute– and EXPOTEC, a special showcase with the state-of-the-art in audiovisual technology and equipment.

In behalf of a generation of Mexican and Latin-American followers, this edition also includes a special tribute to the famous Mexican actor German Valdés “Tin Tanâ€Â, as an earned appreciation for his flair and iconoclastic performances.

To support and foster the growing number of Mexican and foreign youth that come to the Festival to share experience and knowledge with renown filmmakers and professionals of the film industry , we will continue with some of our training focused programs such as: III Digital Zone Guadalajara and IV Meeting the Creators workshops. Also in this section, we have organized Visionary Campus Guadalajara, with the sponsorship of the Berlinale Talent Campus.
