March 8 – 9 , 2008

As a contribution to the development of Mexican and Ibero-American cinema, Guadalajara International Film Festival, together with the Sociedad General de Escritores de México (SOGEM), the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) and the Fondo de Inversión y Estímulos al Cine (FIDECINE) organizes since 2005 the Ibero-American Co-production Meeting.

The idea behind initiative is to create a platform to offer Ibero-American filmmakers the opportunity to launch their ideas to the international film industry and to find the right connections to get their projects financed.

Every year, a select number of directors/producers are invited to Guadalajara to present their film projects to international co-producers, bankers, funds, sales agents, distributors, TV stations and other potential financiers interested in Ibero-American talent.

For the fourth edition of this two-day event, which will take place on March 8 and 9, we have extended the scope of the projects admitted in order to include feature-length documentaries. Among the more than 100 submitted projects (both fiction and documentary) 25 have been selected to participate in the Meeting.

All meetings between director/producers and potential co-producers are organized and scheduled prior to the event in order to guarantee a highly productive yet informal atmosphere.

To complement this event, the agenda also includes a special presentation by representatives of international film funding agencies and organizations that provides grants and/or support to remarkable cinema projects in various stages of completion.

The XXIII Guadalajara Film Festival is pleased to announce that for the second year on a row, a special jury will award the best project presented at the Coproduction Meeting with the TVE Award. The Prize consists of the broadcast rights acquired by TVE, Spanish Television, for a minimum of €150,000 (and up to €250,000, depending on the scale of the project).
