Cine en Contrucción Guadalajara 2007. Awards Announcement

In order to facilitate the completion of Latin-America feature films, which once filmed find difficulties during their post-production stage and later on being while trying to guarantee theatrical release, the Guadalajara International Film Festival promoted in 2007 an Industry initiative called Cine en Construcción Guadalajara (Guadalajara Films in progress) in collaboration with Toulouse’s Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine and San Sebastian International Film Festival’s.

In continuity with this initiative, in 2008 the Festival is now launching Guadalajara Construye (Guadalajara Constructs) which will take place from March 8th through the 10th, 2008.

For this event, a maximum of 6 productions from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, currently in their post-production phase will be selected. The directors/producers are invited to Guadalajara to present their film to international co-producers, sales agents, distributors, TV stations and other potential financiers interested in Ibero-American talent.

The films will be presented by their directors in video and will be subject to an analysis and discussion by the participating industry professionals.

Sponsor Distribution and post-productions companies will award a series of prizes to the best films on progress presented during Guadalajara Construye. 220,000 US dollars in prizes are to be distributed in 2008:

  • Swiss Effects Award: a tape to film blowup (the film must have a maximum length of 90 min) The award includes the 35mm negative material and film development process.
  • New Art Digital Award: 20,000 US dollars in post-production services in HD or 2k resolutions for one of the participating projects. The award includes an on line edition or color correction (does not include the digital support transfer to 35mm negative).
  • Churubusco Post Award: Laboratory and post-production digital process services (does not include the digital support transfer to 35mm negative) for one of the participating projects.
  • Latinofusion Award: a 20,000 us dollars distribution advance for the film´s International representation rights.
  • Astro Estudio Award: Audio design and final mix for one of the participating films.
  • SIGNIS-OCLACC Award: 1,000 US dollars in cash to facilitate the completion of one of the participating films.
  • Titra California Award: Subtitling of a 35mm copy and the video transfer of one of the participating projects, including 500 DVD subtitled copies for screeners.
  • The Lift Award: Consists of traveling expenses to Mexico City (including hotel and moving expenses), legal, and administrative services and post-production services until the completion for one of the selected films. The award is valued in 15,000 US dollars.
